A quick stop for coffee at Tim Horton’s = $100.00 payday
|
Here is some background insight into this particular buy. This gentleman was fortunate enough to pull this card from a pack of 2015-16 Tim Horton’s hockey cards that cost a couple of bucks with the purchase of a coffee. A non-collector, he called around to the 3-4 sports card stores left in Vancouver and was told by each business, “they don’t buy stuff anymore”. He quickly realized at the end of the day, all he had was a piece of cardboard with a picture on it! History has also shown that once national promotions like these are over, interest falls dramatically! The owner of this card could have gone on eBay and sold the card himself but did not want to spend the time it takes to scan and describe it, wait an week for the auction to run, “hope” whomever wins it actually send payment, and then have to package it up and go to the Post Office to ship it. Then he called me! Rather than waste his time, I offered him $100.00 cash! He told me he wanted to think about it. In the meantime, he was free to see if a better offer for the card was out there. There was not, and when we met, we sealed the deal with a handshake in less time than it takes to make a latte!
